What is this product?

 

Pasitrex Ointment is a medication used in the treatment of psoriasis. It works by lowering the rate at which skin cells grow. This reduces the red, scaly patches on the skin.

 

More than recommended use of this medicine may cause hypercalcaemia. However, this condition normalizes quickly after treatment is discontinued.

Skin irritation is a common side effect of this medicine, but it is mild and goes away quickly. Inform your doctor if it persists for long period of time.

HOW TO USE PASITREX OINTMENT

This medicine is for external use only. Use it in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Check the label for directions before use. Clean and dry the affected area and gently massage the ointment. Wash your hands after applying, unless hands are the affected area.

Pasitrex Ointment is a synthetic form of vitamin D belonging to the class of medicines called ‘anti-psoriatics’. It lowers the rate with which skin cells grow, thereby controlling the psoriatic condition.

WHAT IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF PASITREX OINTMENT?

If you miss a dose of Pasitrex Ointment, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

 

Expert Advice

  • Tell your doctor if you are or planning to become pregnant or are breastfeeding. In case you have been advised to use this drug while breast feeding, do not apply it on breast area.
  • Before using calcipotriol, inform your doctor if you are taking ultraviolet (UV) light treatment.
  • Excessive exposure to sunlight should be avoided while on this treatment.
  • If you have been diagnosed with psoriasis types like ‘generalised pustular psoriasis’ or ‘erythrodermic exfoliative psoriasis’, consult your doctor before using calcipotriol.
  • Application of calcipotriol on face is not recommended.
